INTERVIEWS

Through our interviews with several immigrants who tell their very personal stories of when and why they left their home country for the United States, we communicate the humanity that binds us, including our shared fears and dreams.  We hope these videos show how immigrants and their children are a fundamental part of the American experience.

Mery is a Cuban immigrant who lived and worked most of her life in Communist Cuban.  She was a school teacher in Cuba and now lives in Miami providing elderly care services. Mery has a unique perspective on Cuba because she was a young woman when the revolution happened and lived most of her adult life under Castro’s government.  She witnessed the changes in Cuba’s economy and culture first hand.  Her story is interesting and compelling.

Teresita is a Cuban immigrant who fled Cuba as a young adult in the 1960s.  She has lived most of her life in America.  She earned an accounting degree and was able to work her way up the corporate ladder, ultimately becoming the C.F.O. of a Spanish news broadcasting station in Miami.  She also dabbles in poetry.

Santiago is a young Cuban doctor who recently left Cuba and is studying to revalidate his medical degree so that he may obtain a medical licensing in the U.S.  His dream is to  practice medicine in America.
